Choose the visual edge
A mat adds a quiet border and increases the framed footprint. No mat gives the image more presence inside a given frame. Natural and black finishes change contrast; they do not establish different preservation ratings.
Frame and protect your print
Choose a frame for the artwork and the room, then control the risks you can actually observe: poor placement, moisture, rough handling, unsuitable hardware, and careless cleaning. No frame makes a paper print immune to light, humidity, or physical damage.

The decision order
01
A mat adds a quiet border and increases the framed footprint. No mat gives the image more presence inside a given frame. Natural and black finishes change contrast; they do not establish different preservation ratings.
02
Active PosterBloom products currently offer unframed, natural wood-effect, or black framed variants. They ship without a mat unless a future variant explicitly says otherwise. The selected product page is the source of truth.
03
Measure the outside frame, use hardware appropriate to the wall and frame, and avoid locations with direct sun, persistent damp, or repeated splashes. Reassess when the room conditions change.
Current PosterBloom construction
PosterBloom framed variants use solid satin-laminated wood with either a natural oak-effect laminate or black satin laminate, plus Perspex glazing. We do not describe that standard glazing as UV-filtering because the active PDP specification does not establish that claim.
Other configurations may be possible elsewhere, but they are not active PosterBloom variants. Check the size, frame label, price, and availability on the individual product page before buying.

These guides separate aesthetic choices from physical-care claims. Choose the frame finish, decide whether the presentation needs a mat, then reduce avoidable exposure and handling risks once the print is home.
Mat vs. no mat for art printsA mat adds visual breathing room and separates art from glazing; no mat gives a tighter, more graphic presentation. PosterBloom's current framed variants ship without a mat or mount.7 min read · 2 sources · picture mats, art print framing, frame proportions

Oak vs. black frames for wall artChoose oak when you want a warmer, lower-contrast boundary and black when the composition benefits from a sharper graphic edge. PosterBloom offers both without a mat or mount.7 min read · 2 sources · oak frames, black frames, wall art framingApply the decision
